That ship has sailed

Well, my first full week as a full-time employee in over 12 years is officially in the books. I have to admit it felt strange. Most days as an entrepreneur, once I finished my work-work for the day, I’d turn my attention to the business-work… emails, phone calls, texts, marketing, etc. But that is no longer a concern. My only concern is doing my job and doing it well. So when I found myself in those sparse moments, I enrolled in some courses to learn new skills to reinforce my digital toolbox. That’s because I feel it’s paramount to continue to learn and grow and blah, blah, blah. The truth is I’m a nerd, I love learning, and I don’t like to get bored. And with the vast amount of knowledge at my fingertips, that isn’t a problem. What’s even better is when I can learn something that helps me get paid.

Cha-ching!! Or the I-Ching… or Tao te Ching… of which I have several copies.

Nerd, remember?

In other news, the custom camping axe I ordered arrived. And it’s glorious. I already have two Viking axes, which are awesome, but they’re just for display purposes.

I wanted a Viking-style axe that was actually functional for camping. So I reached out to my axe guy to hook me up with a custom axe just for that purpose. It took a bit, but it turned out perfect. He also threw in a classic-style pocket knife for free.

Nice guy.

finally got around to making a couple of new t-shirt designs.

I’ve updated the Hawk & Bear ‘crossing arrows’ logo to have more of a Viking feel.

Along that same line, I’ve been studying Norse bindrune art. They’re basically the equivalent of English ligatures (combining letters to make one form).  This particular bindrune represents my intention to become a better person. It combines the runes for wealth, health, joy, emotional strength, goals, self improvement, and family.

Now before anyone gets too far down the rabbit hole and starts proclaiming “Sweet Jesus! He’s casting pagan magic!”, my interest in bindrunes is purely aesthetic and archaeological. I’ve had a fascination with Vikings and Nordic culture for some time. So don’t get carried away… or I might curse you.

Until next time, ‘ver heil ok sæl’.
